Governor Hope Uzodinma has signed the Imo State 2025 Appropriation Bill into law after its passage by the State House of Assembly.
The initial proposal of N756 billion presented by the Governor was revised upwards to N807 billion by the legislators.
During the signing ceremony at the New Exco Chambers, Government House Owerri, Governor Uzodinma commended the lawmakers for aligning with the Executive to ensure essential services for the people. He highlighted that the adjustment of the budget figures demonstrated the Legislature’s oversight responsibility and their shared commitment to the state’s development.
The finalized budget allocates N694.8 billion (86.09%) to capital expenditure, while N112.3 billion (13.91%) is earmarked for recurrent spending.
Describing the budget as a “Budget of Expanded Economic Opportunities,” the Governor emphasized its focus on infrastructure development, industrialization, and positioning Imo State as an attractive hub for investors. He also reiterated his administration’s dedication to achieving rapid economic growth in 2025, reflected in allocations to key ministries.
Earlier, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chike Olemgbe, lauded the Governor for presenting a well-structured budget, which facilitated its smooth passage.
