Hon. Osita Eze, organises competition for secondary schools in Oji River LGA.

Hon. Osita Eze, the representative of Oji River Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, has launched an educational initiative titled the Hon. Osita Eze Scholars Summit, aimed at improving the quality of education in Oji River Local Government Area. The initiative aligns with Governor Peter Mbah’s ongoing Smart Schools project, which seeks to revolutionize education across the state.

Highlights of the Summit:

1. Free WAEC Registration for 33 Students:Hon. Eze pledged and presented a cheque of ₦2 million to cover WAEC registration fees for the best three students from each of the 11 secondary schools in the area.This gesture removes the financial burden from parents/guardians, encouraging academic excellence.

2. Quiz Competition:A quiz competition involving 11 schools was organized by the State Post Primary Schools and Management Board (PPSMB).Winners:Urban Secondary School, Oji River: First place, awarded a golden cup and cash gift.Girls High School, Inyi: Second place, received a cash gift.Girls High School, Isikwe Achi: Third place, also received a cash gift.Other participating schools received consolation prizes and specially designed exercise books.

3. Recognition and Rewards:Special School Oji River was honored for its national competition victory.Principals and Supervisory Councillors, including Mrs. Felicia Onyeazor (recognized as the most outstanding principal), received awards.The local youth sports team also benefited from cash gifts for their achievements.

4. Support for Stakeholders:Hon. Eze’s efforts were commended by stakeholders, including traditional rulers, political figures, and educators, for fostering academic competition and motivating students.Former Solicitor General Hon. Emeribe praised Hon. Eze’s legislative contributions, particularly his bill to revitalize the abandoned School of Veterinary Services Center in Achi.

5. Future Prospects:The Oji River Local Government Chairman, Hon. Greg Anyaegbudike, assured sustained support for the summit and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to the state’s Smart Schools project, which will establish 20 modern schools in the area.The initiative not only encourages academic excellence but also strengthens the educational infrastructure in Oji River LGA, promising a brighter future for students and educators alike.
