The Ebonyi State Government is set to welcome the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who will commission the newly upgraded runway at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Onueke, Ezza South LGA, on Friday. The rehabilitation of the runway, a priority project for Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration, cost over N17.8 billion, making it the longest runway in the South-East region.
Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Obichukwu, the Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, highlighted the state’s full preparedness for the event after coordinating security arrangements with the DSS. She also invited travelers to take advantage of the upgraded airport, particularly during the festive season, as flight operations have officially resumed.
Governor Nwifuru’s commitment to modernizing the airport’s infrastructure underscores his vision for elevating Ebonyi’s aviation capabilities and accessibility.
