Emulate Onu by promoting Nigeria’s unity — Abia traditional rulers challenge politicians.

Abia State’s traditional rulers have urged politicians to follow the example of the late Ogbonnaya Onu, a former Abia State governor, in fostering national unity. During an inter-denominational commendation service in Umuahia, the chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Linus Nto Mbah, highlighted Onu’s dedication to politics without hostility and his respect for the traditional institutions.

Mbah encouraged politicians, both from Igboland and other regions, to adopt Onu’s approach. He noted that as the first civilian governor, Onu contributed significantly by establishing key institutions in the state, including a broadcasting house, a newspaper, a university, and a college of education.

He also praised the Abia State governor’s decision to honor Onu with the commendation service.Additionally, students at Abia State Polytechnic in Aba have expressed support for renaming their school after Onu, viewing the change positively.
