The former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu has reiterated his firm resolve to support APC and make the party a force to reckon with come 2027.
Answering questions on what his take is on the mass movement of Abia leaders into APC, the international business mogul, Kalu, assured millions of his followers that he is happy with the influx of defectors, who have recently joined the party.
Kalu promised that he has given Mr. President, Tinubu, his words, about rebuilding the party in order to face opposition as we move on to the fore, in the coming electioneering year.
“Well, it’s a good development that people, commonly, we were playing politics, before I joined APC. It’s a remarkable thing, and I am very happy about it. I have couple of things back, that I have assured the President, that I will be involved in rebuilding the party to face reality, so, that the party can have enough people to be able to move APC forward in 2027” Kalu said.
The former Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, Kalu, used the opportunity to bare his mind on some reservations an APC Chieftain, Chief Offor, has on the process via which these defectors joined the party.
Kalu expressed the fact that he has no problem with anybody joining the party. He noted that it is the right step, taken in the right direction. Kalu advised that Abia has played opposition with the Federal Government for a long while, that it is time to join forces with FG to move Abia to the next enviable height.
“No. I think APC is more united. In the next couple of weeks, months we will come forcefully to make APC realize that the party is the same and what we are looking for is to give a good account of us, our party, next presidential election and all elections in Abia State. We have no problem with anybody joining.
Joining APC is the right thing to do for people or our state.”
“We have played opposition for a long time, our people should stop playing opposition. We should come and let us join hands together with the Federal Government and rebuild our state.” Kalu opined
Speaking further, the Chairman Senate Committee on Privatization, Kalu, responding to the message he has for his teeming followers and the All Progressive Congress, APC, he suggested they should work together in harmony, in a tranquil manner and more peaceful space to triumph come 2027.
Kalu assured his supporters, that, him and other leaders of APC in Abia are assiduously working hard to deliver two million votes to President Tinubu, like they always did to the former President, Goodluck Jonathan previously.
Kalu said with the kind of dividends of democracy him and other stakeholders of the party has brought to the people of Abia, that he is confident APC will win most of the political seats in Abia moving forward. The ranking lawmaker, stated that the Abia APC is rancour free and he has assured Mr. President to fully participate in pragmatic politicking that will bring progress to the good people of Abia State.
“Is for them to work together. I have already assured the President, that the party will be able to produce about two million votes in the next election. We are working very hard to make sure that Abia will come up with two million votes we used to give to Jonathan. It will come back to the APC.
“I am hoping, with the kind of developmental strides that our leaders of the party are having now, we will be able to move forward. I don’t see any problem, even people having problems, have assured the leadership of the party also in the party Executives that we will be able to workout something to make Abia an enviable place. Before, I stepped aside, but with the assurances I have given to the president, I will come back fully to play the APC politics. Thank you very much.”
